Before you start
You’ll need:- A Microsoft 365 Global Administrator or AI Administrator
- Access to the Teams Developer Portal
- GetWhys OAuth client details for your Microsoft 365 tenant
Register GetWhys OAuth
In the Teams Developer Portal:- Open Tools → OAuth Client Registration.
- Select + New OAuth connection.
- Enter the GetWhys OAuth client ID, client secret, authorization endpoint, token endpoint, refresh endpoint, and scopes supplied by GetWhys.
- Select Save.
- Copy the OAuth client registration ID. You’ll use it when you create the connector.
Create the federated connector
Your Microsoft 365 admin completes this setup once:- Open the Microsoft 365 admin center.
- Go to Copilot → Connectors.
- Open the Gallery tab.
- Under Created by your org, find Create a new connector and select Add.
- Under Connect to MCP server, select Add.
- Enter:

GetWhys - Base URL:
https://api.getwhys.io/mcp - OAuth registration ID: the ID from the Teams Developer Portal
- Display name:
- Select Save.
Roll out the connector
From Copilot → Connectors → Your connections, open GetWhys and choose one of these rollout options:- Use Staged rollout to assign the connector to selected users or Microsoft Entra groups.
- Select Deploy to all users when you’re ready to make it available across your tenant.
Connect your GetWhys account
After an admin deploys the connector, each user connects their own GetWhys account:- Open Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat.
- Select the … menu, then Settings.
- Select Sources.
- Find GetWhys and select Connect.
- Sign in to GetWhys and approve access.
