The Google Drive integration lets you import files from your Drive into GetWhys as Organization Data. Once imported, they behave like any uploaded document — searchable from Chat, mentionable with @, and cited in answers.

What you can do

  • Browse your Google Drive from inside GetWhys
  • Select individual files or folders to import
  • Import in supported formats (.pdf, .txt, .docx)

Connecting Google Drive

1

Go to Organization Data in the left navigation

Authorization is per-user — each person on your team connects their own Drive account.

Importing files

After connecting, a Drive file picker opens:
  1. Browse to the file or folder you want to import
  2. Select one or more files (multi-select is supported)
  3. Click Import
Files process in the background. Once processed, they appear in your Documents list and are immediately searchable from Chat.

Supported formats

Same as direct file upload — .pdf, .txt, .docx. Google Docs files are exported as .docx during import. Sheets and Slides files aren’t supported directly; export them to PDF or .docx in Drive first.

Privacy

GetWhys only accesses the files you explicitly select in the picker. The integration doesn’t scan your full Drive or import anything automatically. Imported files become private Organization Data — see Organization Data for how that data is handled.

Disconnecting

To revoke GetWhys’s access to your Drive, go to your Google Account security settings and remove GetWhys from the list of connected apps. Files you’ve already imported remain in GetWhys until you delete them from the Organization Data page.
