# Slack integration

> Run GetWhys queries from inside Slack and route conversations into Projects.

Connecting Slack lets you query GetWhys from any Slack channel and pipe the activity into a dedicated GetWhys Project. The bot replies with cited answers the same way Chat does in the web app.

## What you can do with the Slack integration

* Mention the GetWhys bot in any channel to ask a research question — get cited answers back in-channel
* Automatically create a Slack-linked Project so conversations are saved and searchable in GetWhys
* Pull Slack threads into Research Requests when you find a question that needs deeper investigation

## Who can connect Slack

<Note>
  You need organization admin access in both Slack and GetWhys. Slack OAuth requires permission to install apps in your workspace.

## Using the bot in Slack

Mention `@GetWhys` (or the bot name configured for your workspace) in any channel the bot is in. The bot will reply in-thread with a cited answer. Follow-up questions in the same thread keep context, just like a conversation in the web app.

To add the bot to a channel, type `/invite @GetWhys` from within the channel.

## The Slack Project

When you connect Slack, GetWhys can auto-create a Project that captures the Slack-driven research activity. Conversations started from Slack land in this Project so they're searchable and shareable from the web app.

## Disconnecting

In the **Integrations** page, click **Disconnect** on the Slack card. The bot stops responding and the integration is removed. Your existing GetWhys conversations are preserved.

## Troubleshooting

If the bot doesn't respond when mentioned, check that it's been invited to the channel and that your GetWhys organization has the Slack integration active. If it's still not responding, email [support@getwhys.io](mailto:support@getwhys.io).
